The Eye of my Dreams

"Eye of my Dreams"
This is the first of an eye study. I think I may even save them for a swap I want to host! Over the years I have studied how to draw a great eye. I stop and draw any eye that strikes me. I have been searching for that perfect eye that embodies all the things I have learned. This is close but not quite right. I have no skin tone pens and my colored pencil skin just isn't right. So I will be looking for that wonderful set of skin tone super pen set, and then see this world open up even more. Till then white as the snow skin will have to do.

Busy busy busy!!

What Light Through Yonder Window Breaks?
"Hipocaw"
"Dazzle Red Head"
Wow busy day and Busy up coming days. We have quite a few trades to work on, as well as a few swaps still. This is my fourth Chimera, and I think I will do another yet. I had random inspiration for my Dazzle red head and there are subtle glitter gel pen throughout it, the scanner doesn't really pick that up at all. Oh to the card of the night. Gordon has been working on and off on this one card, it was mistake after mistake after mistake until it came around right at the end!

Fun with Scribbles

"My Tangle" Isabeau scribbled on my card so I outlined what I liked and erased the rest. Made for a really interesting start.
Beauty Baby 1 for swap.
I am not so sure about the baby swap but I will trudge on and try again. There is some trick to drawing babies that I just haven't got yet. A bit more work at it and I am sure it will come alone. Gordon is gearing up to work on his first larger water color. He started it about a year ago or more. I am really interested in seeing his take on it now. I have more cards in my head for tonight so I think I will lay a few out before I go to sleep.

Hair Swap in the Bag!!

"Red Headed Up Do"
This is the third card to my red headed set and I really liked all three allot. I think I will do a fourth for the host! I am feeling better and better about my lines day after day. I really like that I have to be responsible and report my artwork everyday. It keeps me moving in a good direction even on the days when I am down. I joined the 6 word Micro Fiction Swap, with my last card the first of three. I am going to be doing some hard thinking on this before May.

Emotional Day

"He made me feel so small"
No sleep and No Sleep make Amber and Gordon Cranky! I felt much better with some art venting, and happy as ever finishing out the day. I hope to expand a bit on this concept, in the ways I feel small that are good. Every thing needs a balance.

Early Late Night

"The Haircut" For Red head swap
I was motivated early this morning and got this done by late afternoon. I attempted my first baby drawing, and it looks a little tweaked, so I am not sure what to do other thank ink it and see how he comes out, that or scrap it. But as is he may just end up being creepy. Why I ever thought I could draw babies is beyond me. I need some luck here to catch on. At least I have a month to work it out!!!

Pen and Ink Study Card, will do one a week for a month to improve!
"Red in the Wind" For the Redheaded Swap
Today I signed on to do two swaps featuring people, one of the things I feel needs work. So this is one of three redheads in the works. I am also in a Beautiful Babies swap. Since I have my very own beautiful babies to draw from so this should be interesting! Gordon is on assignment, very annoying homework that will help strengthen his Pen and Ink skills, and his drawing skill in general. Just as I will do my work cards he will do his work ditto to get out all of our kinks!! Go Team Rousseau, Art is so much fun, but good art takes some work as well.

Happy Valentines Day!!

Bright and cheerful Happy Valentines Day!!! We were busy and yet productive! Lots of fun, and now on to more intense works of tiny nature. I need to develop my rich textured style some more. I am not even sure I have a style of my own yet. I am searching for what feels right in my art, some central theme or feel that holds them together as belonging to the same artist. I am not sure I have the feel or style that I want. I am going to delve deeper into my pen and ink, and pointillism.

I heart you moon lit tree

Happy Valentines Day!! From Gordon with Love!
"Interference" Pointy pointy, for pointillism swap.
"I heart you moon lit tree" Card based on larger drawing for Gordon. Had very good inspiration for it. I am waiting on new pens in the mail. MMMmmmmm new pens. I can think of nothing more fine than opening new art supplies at home. Sitting in the studio, pulling off cellophane and tape to get to the blank paper, or shiny new pens all full of ink. We give each other art supplies for almost all gift giving occasions! Then there is the emergency art supply where the piece of art cannot be finished with out it, and if I don't finish it I will go mad! It's a good night to draw.

I Saw Him In The Water

"I Heart Dr. Seuss" What more can I say!
Chimera number two, for a swap Tarsier+Saiga+Chameleon = Targaleon. One more to go and I am saving the best for last. Its drawn it just needs color. I am not sure what medium to use.
This Was a Surprise, It started as part of a series of water color (see blogs) I didn't like it what so ever and thought of throwing it away. Glad I didn't, started with the ear of all places, took a step back and saw his face in the waves and ran with it from there. Totally Improved. Love It.

Looking at Artist Trading Cards

THE Smallest canvas size I am willing to work on (2.5in X3.5in), of course just as those words slipped from my mouth, options appear in my head as to how to apply what I am learning (Dexterous Daring Drawing Measured in Millimeters Multi-Media),into my clay carving and glazing, and my oils will have the confidence to go the extra fore-ground worth of detail, Plus on top of that I am I am experimenting with pastels, water color, acrylics, and pen and Ink (plan on working with colored Inks and Crow quill in the near future) in a Themed assignment atmosphere where everybody shares there trading cards either digitally or in swap trades or personal one on one trades. I can't wait to start large scale Watercolor with Pen and Ink and Pastels but I have more to learn before than. Oh and enlarging the cards is really the best part really, scanning those little cards that took you and hour each to finish (if not more, if you count the pondering and kicking yourself midway threw the process then having to take a break that ends sometime the next day when you get the other 45minutes to finish it because, well you have three toddlers and they don't play well with pastels)and being able to see every blemish and especially the things you did right and you say "DAMN THATS SMALL".

O Face In the Works!

Mustache-O-Face for personal trade.
Mushroom on the Lean, for a personal trade. I had a really good night full of flow! I am working to that kind of night again. Though it was 2 in morning before we knew it, and we are usually woken up by 5 am so that kind of took its toll on our day of business. We got our things done and I still have the energy to work on my cards. I have a few more O Face's floating around that need to be captured! I also want to work in acrylic more with my pointillism. I think of it as a challenge. I am receiving a palm tree in the mail I am so excited to get this wonderful picture of inspiration for my own palm tree project. I am going to expound upon pointillist eyeballs.

This "Kahlo Jackson" was made on assignment for a personal trade!
For Amber "What am I going to do today?"
"Heart's take Wing"
Then this oil pastel is "Kahlo Sunrise" for a trade the request for the trade was Micheal Jackson (see above) and a study of Frida Kahlo These paintings "Frida Kahlo, Moses, 1945,oil on board, 61×75.6cm and her self portrait in particular I drew (and painted) inspiration. The real challenge was not the style, more the use of pastels alone to give off the "Frida" feel. So for the Kahlo Jackson I resorted to multi-media: Pastels, pen and ink, some acrylic, trying to give some continuity to the piece, with so many mediums was the difficulty, how much is too much was the question. Oh an the figure drawing was tough always wanted to take a drawing figures class, I will defiantly work with the figure.

Revamped Cards

I get back to my finished cards a day or so later and change or add something. This happens allot. I cut a fish off his background... Now I have a fish out of water. I am sure it will go together swimmingly.

Golden Sunrise On A Sunday Morning

It was a beautiful sunny morning. I got a message asking for my Golden Sunrise. Sadly my daughter had got a hold of it, leaving it creased in ways I didn't want to send to someone. So with the Sunday sun out my window, I made a new card just for her. I think I will make another Sunrise for me. I am still not done with the theme. Palm trees will be tough, coming from Michigan I don't see many real palm trees for reference. Which does make me sad. I think they are a wonderful tree. So I will work on palm trees soon. Happy to be blogging so early in the day. I spend way to much time with the computer at night. Keep it artistic for this Sunday and all the days that follow.

If my Heart had wings

If my Heart Had Wings
Last of a personal trade series. Have to have it done, because that means I get to stick it in my New Yellow Envelope in the mail on Monday. The Heart series is going to Washington State! I found out my First out of USA card was received in Denmark. I have five more pointillism cards to work on. I need a good Chimera drawing day as well. Now its going into Sunday which has been notorious for not getting things done, Or is that Mondays? I need to up my game again I think. I have felt a bit of the slouch the past few days. I need to get my head in a good place!

Play me a Concert!

This was a productive day, I had most of my things done by the end of nap time today. Had my Day 8 of the 365 project e-mailed in a reasonable time. I got this heart done for a personal swap, continuing the heart with wings theme only I tried butterfly wings. Which turned out to look just like elephant ears, so I went with it! Gordon did a Wonderful card of his friend KC playing music to him while he was building our house. He called it "Concert". I just wanted to play with glue today. I didn't even realize it until I sat down to write this that both my cards are collaged. I am still not happy with my Whimsy Owls. I guess I just need to keep trying. I will do another owl tomorrow. Its been an inspiring day.
