My Rooted Tree

I was in a stalemate with this painting until I had a friend of mine critique my other works and I took some tips on where to go and as with all of my trees they tend to grow by themselves. The roots are artfully entangled and were befuddling to ink! I was so afraid to blob with my crow quill pen that I moved at a snails pace and it took me two days to finish just the roots. I am happy with it, and my wheels are turning in interesting directions for my next painting which is for a wedding. The souls entwine tree's are some of my favorite to create! Onward and upward to my first ink on canvas that is primed, I hope to do some on unprimed canvas now that would be exciting!

Oh Christmas Tree!

Christmas is just around the corner, and on the way there I found some beautiful trees! The tree tradition in my house is random, all we know is that we will have a tree but what kind of tree is always a mystery. I like switching it up, as with my artistic trees there is never one just like the other, just as each tree grows independently in the wild. I feel very refreshed with each tree I paint. I love the excitement of doing Ink free hand with an old style crow quill pen. Anything can happen, but letting yourself be free to create as the picture develops is a beautiful thing unto it self. For each tree I create I am that much lighter in my soul.

Gourds how I love thee

Ah the joy of doing Gourds. I had so much fun, I have other projects just waiting for my time. I made a new friend who is a wonderful grower of gourds of all shapes and sizes. After a few helpful tips in the right direction, I worked the gourd free hand with my Dremel and a small wood carving bit. At one stage I used a walnut stain that gave it a semi glossy finish and made the carving away stand out beautifully! I can't wait to get back to work.

Happy Fathers Day!

"Fathers Day Greeting Card"
"Surprise Garden"
"Moon Dance"
"Sun Dance"
I haven't been able to post my newer work because it is just a little to big for my scanner, so off to have it done by the Pro's soon. I have also been working on a dress, I like where it's going, but I think I would like to try another variation of the idea. I have a short period of time to get the dress and a Kilt to match for a wedding in July. I have been trying to get a bit more whimsical with my art, and clothing designs as well.

Micro Macro Mini's

Hurray what fun the fantastic new camera at work, I then cropped out some fantastic abstracts. These are all 2.5 x 3.5, I think I will frame a set together, they really grab my eye! I am very happy with the camera and the cards I will do more randomly I think.

Organic Pen and Ink Amusement!

"The Party Is Here"

"Mismatched Sandles"

"Funky Blue Face"

"Feeling Organic"

"Eye went to sea" or " Eye Witness"

Hectic as always I have been sitting down every night and doing a card at the very least. Though I haven't been working on my swaps in a while. I need to bust a few out! We got our new camera that we have been pining away for. We are shooting the pictures for a wedding in July and needed to upgrade to digital. Our last wedding assignment went well though I wish I had a faster Me to go with the good old SLR's I was using and the camera body I was using had a light leak which caused a graying of everything. I was not happy, the bride was though! We are excited about the up coming challenge. Our Daughter Isabeau is going to be the flower girl! Her dress is fit for a bright orange princess! We will be taking along a babysitter which is very new to us, we never have a sitter besides the Sister in Law that is getting married. On to new and fun projects some artistic and some just fun, and more than a few necessary improvements to our habitat and surrounding areas. Now we will finally be supplementing our story with photographs of the cool cats involved!

Have Camera will Shoot

Above: A Spider Jumping On to Amber

We have been saving and researching to find the new camera that was for us, and at long last it's here. Not quite as out of this world as I would have liked, Only in the fact that I can't just use all the many different lenses we have for our other cameras. Besides that it is a wonderful little machine, snapping, dinging when it is suppose to, it sits gently at our side white an shiny just asking to be pick up and played with you could almost hear its shutter panting. Happy is one SLR that works instead of five that do not.
